Henry Cavill’s involvement in the Netflix Witcher series has ended, but that shouldn’t mean that he has to leave the world of The Witcher behind.
Henry Cavill’s tenure as Geralt in Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher might have come to an end, but The Witcher video game franchise provides an avenue for the star to return. CDPR’s original trilogy of games about Geralt of Rivia came to a close with The Witcher 3, but the company has confirmed the launch of a new trilogy with a fourth game currently in the works. Voice acting and motion capture could offer a perfect way for Henry Cavill to stay involved with The Witcher, as long as he isn’t Geralt this time.
The news that the next season of Netflix’s The Witcher wouldn’t feature Henry Cavill came as a shock to fans, many of whom have established their appreciation for the actor’s dedication to the role. The enthusiasm that Cavill has for The Witcher, Geralt’s history and character is obvious, which makes his departure sting for many Geralt enthusiasts. This isn’t the only character Cavill has left behind recently, as DC films likewise appear to be moving on from his performance as Superman. The actor has other opportunities ahead of him, including a Warhammer 40K series from Amazon, but the world of Netflix’s The Witcher remains a closed door.
Henry Cavill Should Voice A New Character In The Witcher Games
The perfect way to pay tribute to Henry Cavill’s tenure as Geralt would be to bring him back in future CDPR games as a different character altogether. The games already have a rich history with their own Geralt, brought to life by The Witcher voice actor Doug Cockle, and his legacy deserves the same respect that Cavill’s does. The Witcher is far from a one-man show, however, and CDPR could call upon Cavill to inhabit another figure in the fantasy world. Offering Cavill a significant role would be a dream come true for many fans, but even a small cameo could be an exciting Easter egg for The Witcher enthusiasts.
Why Now Is The Perfect Time For Cavill To Join The Witcher Games
The transition into a new trilogy of The Witcher offers a perfect opportunity for Henry Cavill to join the cast of the game. The fourth title is likely to feature a variety of new characters, allowing CDPR to find a natural fit for the actor rather than having to shoehorn in his presence. In likely leaving Geralt behind, the new Witcher game should be able to branch out into new territory, and an actor who has already proven his love for the material would be a perfect addition. If there’s ever a time for Cavill to step into the world of The Witcher games, this is it.
Unfortunately, CDPR have revealed very little about the upcoming title, and the years that stretched between the announcement of their most recent game Cyberpunk 2077, and its ultimate release bode poorly for a quick turnaround on the game. If CDPR does decide to work with Henry Cavill, however, the actor’s appearance as a new character in The Witcher games would be the perfect tribute to his time as Geralt.
