The first Mandalorian season 3 poster arrives reuniting Grogu and Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin ahead of the first trailer’s arrival for the Disney+ show.
Ahead of the first trailer’s premiere, the first The Mandalorian season 3 poster has arrived reuniting Grogu with Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin. The Disney+ Star Wars series centers on Pascal’s titular character as he finds his time as a lawless bounty hunter upended when a job puts him on the path with Grogu, the Force-sensitive infantile member of Yoda’s race who is being hunted by the Galactic Empire, namely Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon. First premiering in late 2019, The Mandalorian has scored rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and helped launch a whole universe of projects for Disney+, including the direct spin-offs The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka.
With just over a month left until the show’s return, the official Star Wars Twitter account has shared the first The Mandalorian season 3 poster.
The key art for the next chapter of the hit series finds Grogu, affectionately known as Baby Yoda, reunited with Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin as they soar through the sky in the midst of a battle. The fight looks to be a heated one, however, as the titular bounty hunter’s cape can be seen burning up as he carries his adopted son away from the explosive confrontation.
What To Expect From The Mandalorian Season 3
Plot details for the next chapter have been kept largely under wraps, but footage for The Mandalorian season 3 indicated that the story would pick up after the events of The Book of Boba Fett, in which Pascal’s protagonist came under fire from his tribe for the transgression of removing his helmet. The new season is said to follow Din and Grogu heading to Mandalore in order to try and redeem himself for showing his face, while also seeking to bring an end to the civil war that’s been going on. Din is also expected to reunite with the Nite Owls, led by Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze, to help in their efforts to liberate Mandalore with the use of the Darksaber, which he nearly lost in a fight with Jon Favreau’s Paz Vizsla in The Book of Boba Fett.
The Mandalorian season 3 will see the return of multiple show vets alongside Pascal and Sackhoff, including Esposito as Moff Gideon, Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, Emily Swallow as The Armorer, Omid Abtahi as Dr. Pershing, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Carson Teva and Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto. The series will feature the introduction of two Star Wars newcomers with Back to the Future vet Christopher Lloyd, whose role is being kept under wraps but described as a guest-starring appearance, and Saturday Night Live alum Tim Meadows in a similar new position. Though set up for her own spinoff in season 2, The Mandalorian season 3 will not see the return of Gina Carano as Cara Dune following a string of controversial political social media posts that led to Lucasfilm firing her.
Penned by series creator Favreau, Lucasfilm exec Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor, The Mandalorian season 3 will find Bryce Dallas Howard returning to the helm alongside fellow show vets Rick Famuyiwa and Carl Weathers. Following a brief snippet of footage confirming the show’s March 1 premiere date, The Mandalorian season 3 trailer is set to make its premiere during the NFC Wild Card game on ESPN and ABC tonight, which kicks off at 8:15 p.m. EST, much like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s recent trailer drop during this month’s Fiesta Bowl NCAA Football game. Whether the trailer drops during the latter half of the game, as was the case with the Marvel Cinematic Universe threequel’s, or earlier is unknown.
