Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order includes a wall running ability. Here’s when players get it and how to actually wall run.
One of the core gameplay aspects in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is wall running, but how to wall run and when Cal Kestis gain access to the ability might be something new players are curious about and returning players don’t remember. When players do unlock the wall run in Jedi: Fallen Order, doing it is actually quite easy. All players have to do is run at a wall with ridges on it and jump; Cal will immediately begin running along the wall. As players reach the end of the wall, pressing the jump button again will allow them to jump off without breaking their run.
To get Jedi: Fallen Order’s wall running ability, players will have to play through the Great Divide on the planet Bogano. When first arriving at the planet, it may be tempting to try to wall run at certain spots – perhaps to reach unopened boxes or unexplored areas – but players will have to be patient. Jedi: Fallen Order‘s wall running ability is naturally unlocked after exploring approximately a third of the planet and reaching a point in which Cal’s former Master Jaro Tapal appears in a flashback sequence.

In the flashback young Cal will learn how to wall run, and after players complete that task, they’ll gain the ability to wall run in Jedi: Fallen Order itself.
Jedi: Fallen Order’s Wall Run Origins
After unlocking Jedi: Fallen Order’s wall run, it’s recommended to turn around and head back the way Cal came in order to discover a shortcut into the vault that Cere wants Cal to go into. Given that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a strictly story-based game, players should know that some abilities come in time and can’t be unlocked simply by acquiring skill points. There is a lot of backtracking on planets in Star Wars Jedi, and wall running to reach places you couldn’t previously is one of many examples of why players need to keep a sharp eye out for hidden areas.
Having a wall run in Jedi: Fallen Order makes perfect sense when looking at both the developer’s history and the original Star Wars source material. The Star Wars Jedi games are a product of Respawn Entertainment, one of EA’s newest developers who are primarily known for developing the Titanfall series as well as the battle royale game Apex Legends. But while there’s little cross-pollination between all these games, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order does share one thing in common with Titanfall: wall running.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was developed by a brand-new team within Respawn Entertainment, but wall running was always going to be a core element of the game’s traversal. Getting from one area to the next – in the heat of battle or simply looking to explore a new part of the world – can be difficult in many games, and for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order it is easily justifiable with Cal Kestis’ Force powers. Knowing how to wall run in Jedi: Fallen Order is required to reach new areas and fully explore the game, but players don’t need to worry about missing out on finding it.
Will Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Have Wall Running
As a sequel to Fallen Order, it would be pretty disappointing if Star Wars Jedi: Survivor did not include the ability to wall run in some capacity. Thankfully, gameplay videos of Jedi: Survivor have already shown off wall running being included as part of the game, although it is unclear if players will be able to do so from the start or will have to learn how to wall run again, like how the wall run in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order worked.
