How Many Holes Does Scott Lang Have?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania introduced several compelling mysteries to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but one clearly stands apart from them all

Warning: spoilers for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are ahead! In kicking off Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania introduced a multitude of compelling mysteries to the Multiverse Saga, yet one specific question clearly remains the most important of them all. Indeed the film witnessed the introduction of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, the debut of the Council of Kangs, and even offered several hints about the plot of Loki‘s upcoming second season. Even so, the film cannot help but tease an even more confounding mystery as the characters therein desperately attempt to discern exactly how many holes Scott Lang has in his body.

Among Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s cast of characters is Veb, a gelatinous inhabitant of the Quantum Realm portrayed by David Dastmalchian, who played Kurt in the previous Ant-Man movies. Veb is exceedingly fascinated with human physiology upon meeting Scott Lang, especially when it comes to the various holes in his body. Having no holes of his own, Veb is understandably obsessed with learning everything he can about the human body’s several holes. This becomes a running joke throughout Quantumania, as Veb goes on his own journey of self-discovery and even sings an original song based entirely on physiological holes, which can be found on Quantumania‘s original soundtrack.

How Scott Lang Has 7 Holes In His Body

The reviews for Quantumania may be mixed, but the discourse surrounding Scott Lang’s holes is only beginning as Veb declares that there are seven distinct orifices on the Avenger’s body. After taking a long moment to check Veb’s math, Scott seems to agree with the creature’s final number. Though he fails to give an exhaustive list of exactly what he considers to be a hole, Veb appears to have counted Scott’s two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, and mouth, thereby reaching seven total holes on Ant-Man’s head. However, this number may actually be up for debate when one considers the totality of Scott’s human anatomy.

Veb based his research solely on Scott’s head, thereby missing several very important holes in the process. While Ant-Man’s well-documented love for food in the MCU implies that he makes great use of at least one of his face holes, but also necessitates that at least two other holes be present elsewhere on Scott’s body. This, however, would bring Scott’s grand hole total up to nine, disproving Veb’s infamous seven-hole theory, which clearly wasn’t based on all the facts available. Furthermore, when one comes to consider that the human body is actually covered in pores, which are technically holes in and of themselves, Veb’s analysis comes short by several million.

Janet Van Dyne (& Others) Have More Than 7 Holes

Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne in Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania.

Veb might be surprised to learn that certain humans, including some of Scott’s companions, actually have more holes than others. Quantumania‘s ending comes before Janet van Dyne ever meets Veb, but had the two characters come face to face, the gelatinous being might have counted an extra hole or two. Janet, after all, has an ear piercing, constituting an extra hole in her body that Scott simply doesn’t have himself. Unfortunately unnoticed by Veb, Janet is the only one in Scott’s adventuring party who has a piercing, granting her the coveted position of having the most holes in the group.

Furthermore, some Marvel characters have far more holes than even Janet van Dyne, some with multiple piercings that put her two extra holes to shame. Similarly, by the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Quicksilver had multiple extra holes that would have been of prime interest to Veb had he been present. Thankfully for Veb, he does finally get the opportunity to receive holes of his own when he is hit by blaster fire from Kang’s soldiers. This moment appears to unlock Veb’s violent side, as the discovery of his own new holes pushes him to surprisingly become one of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s best fighters.
