The Water- and Psychic-type creature boasts a high Special Defense stat, which makes it a sturdy and reliable option for surviving through the most enduring challenges.
Because of the moveset for Slowking’s Tera Raid build, the Pokémon can boost its stats and finish opponents with a single hit. Luckily, those familiar with Slowbro’s Tera Raid build will have no issues with Slowking’s build since they are very much alike. There is, however, one important difference. While Slowking’s main stat is Special Defense, its less intellectual counterpart has a great Defense stat. This means Slowking is particularly good against opponents whose build and offensive moves focus on Special Attack.
Best Stats & Nature For Slowking
Because it excels at Special Defense, this stat should be one of the priorities in the Slowking build for Tera Raids. Special Defense and Special Attack should have their EVs (Effort Value) maxed out to 252 points each, with the remaining four points invested into HP. This will make Slowking a durable option on the battlefield and a heavy hitter. After these stats have been EV-trained, players must use Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Hyper Training function. Best Items For Slowking
Slowking’s build for Scarlet and Violet’s Tera Raids depends entirely on its survivability and stat boosting, which later proves its value with a heavy-hitting attack. Because of this, the Pokémon must be kept alive at all costs. To make this possible, the best Held Item for Slowking is Leftovers. This will restore a small portion of HP with every passing turn. The main fact is that it does not require Slowking to hit an opponent to recover health. Therefore, it will pass the early-mid stages of the fight stat boosting itself, making other items, like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Shell Bell, a suboptimal choice. Best Tera Type For Slowking
Because Slowking has a main Psychic-type offensive move in its best Tera Raid build, the Pokémon’s Tera type in Scarlet and Violet should be Psychic. It does not have any other offensive moves that could take advantage of a Terrastalization, so it is best to simply disregard the idea of making it any other Tera type. A Psychic Tera type for Slowking is the way to go.
Best Moveset For Slowking
Slowking has a very strict moveset for its Tera Raid build in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, with little space for actual customization. Its first move should be Iron Defense. Iron Defense boosts the user’s Defense stat by two stages, and the strategy in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s Tera Raids is to use it up to three times at the beginning of a raid. This will max out Slowking’s Defense stats, and although its strong suit is Special Defense, Iron Defense grants it extra coverage against different attack types. This can be used less or not if the opponent is exclusively a Special Attack striker, but it will impact its damage output.
The second move in Slowking’s Tera Raid moveset is Nasty Plot. This move is essential in Slowking’s Scarlet and Violet build since it boosts the user’s Special Attack stat by two stages. Nasty Plot should be used three times in the early stages of the fight without exception since the main move used by Slowpoke’s evolution in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is boosted by both Special Attack and by the number of stages increased in the creature’s stats. This offensive move is called Stored Power.
Stored Power, which is the very foundation of Slowking’s Tera Raid build in Scarlet and Violet, is taught with TM 041. The Psychic-type move has a low base power of 20 but gains an additional 20 power for every stage increased in the user’s stats. With both Defense and Special Attack maxed out with Iron Defense and Nasty Plot, respectively, Slowking’s Stored Power can hit for a total of 260 power. To wrap up its moveset, it is recommended that players teach it Slack Off, a Status Move that it can learn by leveling up. This will generously recover half of its HP.
Slowking’s Tera Raid build could have been used in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s frustrating Cinderace raids, for example. In that situation, however, Slowbro had the advantage of boasting better Defense stats in sight of Cinderace’s physical Attack superiority. Nevertheless, Slowking is a reliable and sturdy Pokémon built for many different types of situations and can easily destroy opponents that are weak against Psychic-type moves in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
