A Star Wars: Bad Batch producer comments on the possibility of Boba Fett appearing on the Disney+ show due to his relationship with Omega.
A producer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch reveals whether Boba Fett will appear in the upcoming season 2. Star Wars: The Bad Batch follows the adventures of Clone Force 99, a group of defective clones who use their genetic mutations to their advantages and even manage to avoid executing Order 66 entirely. Along the way, the squad finds themselves taking in a little girl, Omega, who happens to also have been a pure genetic copy of Jango Fett. Secretly the sister to Boba Fett, Omega has to stay alive and free while the world of the Jedi and the clone troopers falls apart.
While Omega is the sister to Boba, the star of The Book of Boba Fett, the iconic bounty hunter has never actually appeared on Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Though The Bad Batch producers previously detailed connections to other series in the Star Wars universe, such as The Book of Boba Fett, it isn’t likely that Boba will be meeting Omega anytime soon. In an interview with The Direct, producer Jennifer Corbett comments on the possibility and strongly hints that it won’t happen in season 2. Check out her quote below:
“I think a lot of people want that because they are brother and sister but it’s important for her, at this point in her life, and where her journey is – she’s at a very different place than where Boba is right now.”
Will Boba Fett And Omega Ever Meet?
Considering that Star Wars: The Bad Batch takes place early on during the transition between the Republic and the Empire, Boba Fett and Omega don’t need to meet immediately. In the Star Wars TV timeline, there will still be decades for the two to have an encounter, given how long Boba lives. Clone Force 99 will presumably keep Omega safe, given that they have already dedicated an entire season of their show to getting to know her and protecting her from the bounty hunter Cad Bane. Even if Omega does leave Clone Force 99 behind, the Kaminoans and the Empire have no reason to hurt her, so she is relatively secure.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that Omega will live to meet her brother. Given that Boba has lived to adulthood without ever acknowledging the existence of his sister, it is entirely possible that they never encounter each other. The Star Wars universe is a big place, and the two could easily reach an old age without meeting. Since the Empire stops using clones, it is likely that it never actually gets its hands on Omega’s DNA, so Boba would have no reason to know that his sister even exists. If Omega survives Star Wars: The Bad Batch and does meet Boba, there will need to be a very satisfying explanation for why Boba never mentions her.
Everything We Know About The Bad Batch Season 2
Dee Bradley Baker will be reprising his role as every single member of Clone Force 99 in Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, while Michelle Ang will be returning to her role as Omega. The upcoming season will bring an old and long-missed character back to the Star Wars universe as it reveals exactly what happens to Commander Cody after executing Order 66. Cody, still controlled by his inhibitor chip, will likely serve as an antagonist to the generally heroic Clone Force 99. With no command structure to truly rein them in, Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 will see the clones searching for a purpose and training Omega as a proper soldier. While she may not find her family in Boba Fett, she at least has Clone Force 99 by her side.
